Cork Film Festival was founded in 1956 to bring the best in new Irish and international feature films, documentaries and shorts to the people of Cork. The festival also presents Slow Food On Film, music/club events, drive-in movies and other special events. Previous award winners at Cork have gone on to win the European Film Academy Award (Undressing My Mother, Ken Wardrop, Ireland) and the Oscar/Academy Award for Best Short Film (Wasp, Andrea Arnold, UK and Six Shooter, Martin McDonagh, Ireland)
